Pittsburgh, Pa.- Incoming freshman Kyle King earned his first elite national title on the floor exercise at the 2014 P&G Gymnastics Championships last weekend at the CONSOL Energy Arena Aug. 21-24.
King began the first day of competition as a consistent all-around competitor in the junior men's age 17-18 division. He earned a score of 14.05 on floor, leaving him in the sixth-place position for the first day. On vault, King tallied a 14.60, tying for fourth-place.
On day two of competition, King notched a 14.30 on floor to round out his total score to 28.35, tying for the top spot on the event. The Mesquite, Texas native, also earned a 14.25 on vault for a combined score of 28.85, placing him third overall after both days of the competition.
King will join the Huskers this fall for the 2014-15 season, looking to make contributions on floor, vault and pommel horse.
