Nebraska Picks Up Second Place Finish in Oklahoma

Norman, Okla. - The No. 9 Nebraska men's gymnastics team picked up a second place overall finish on Saturday night, tallying a team score of 341.550. The No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners finished in first with a mark of 352.400, while No. 11 Air Force came in third at 327.950.

Nebraska began the evening on still rings, posting a team mark of 56.000. The Huskers were paced by sophomore Donovan Arndt, who hit a season-best mark of 14.70. Redshirt freshman Robbie Kocks added his own personal-best of 14.25, while junior Wyatt Baier added a mark of 13.55.

Following the first rotation, the Sooners led the meet with a score of 60.200. The Huskers trailed at 56.000, while Air Force resided in third with a mark of 53.000.

The Huskers took to floor next, powering their way to a new season-high team mark of 59.250. Freshman Grant Perdue picked up a new personal-best of 15.20 to lead the Big Red, while senior Andreas Hofer added a 14.95 and sophomore Mark Ringle tacked on a 14.65.

With two rotations down, Oklahoma held their lead, tallying a mark of 116.700. The Huskers held strong at second with 115.250, while Air Force trailed in third at 108.950.

The third rotation saw NU on pommel horse, where nationally-ranked sophomore Eric Schryver hit a team-leading score of 14.20 to help the Huskers to a team mark of 54.450. Sophomores Wyatt Aycock and C.J. Schaaf added respective marks of 14.10 and 13.25. 

Following the third rotation, Oklahoma pushed their lead out to 175.600. The Huskers followed in second with a team score of 169.700 and Air Force sat in third overall with a mark of 165.500.

The Huskers picked up a team score of 56.60 on high bar for their fourth rotation, led by freshman Josh Ungar's mark of 14.50. Senior Will Eastman hit a 14.30 for the Big Red and freshman Connor Stillwell added a 13.95.

After four rotations, Nebraska remained in second with an overall team score of 226.300. Oklahoma remained in first at 235.400, while Air Force's mark of 218.500 was good for third.

The Huskers moved to vault for their fifth rotation, putting together a team score of 58.400. Baier paced Nebraska, hitting a score of 14.90. Perdue added a mark of 14.70, while Aycock and Ungar each contributed a 14.40 for the Big Red.

With just one rotation to go, Oklahoma extended their lead to 294.300. Nebraska held strong at second overall with 284.700 and Air Force remained in third at 271.500.

Nebraska competed on parallel bars for their final rotation of the evening, tallying a team mark of . Nationally-ranked Ringle led with way with a solid mark of 14.60, while Schryver tacked on a 14.20 and Aycock added a 14.05.

The Sooners wrapped things up following the sixth and final rotation, finishing at 352.400. The Huskers sat at second with 341.550, and Air Force came in at third with 327.950.

The Huskers will be back in Lincoln next weekend for their final regular season meet of 2012, hosting the Iowa Hawkeyes at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The meet will be Senior Night and will honor seniors Andreas Hofer, Will Eastman, David Jacobs and Michael Killeen.
