Lincoln, Neb. – The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women’s (NACGC/W) announced their 2014 Scholastic All-American award winners in both the team and individual categories with six Huskers earning a spot on the list.
All four classes were represented as senior Emily Wong headlined the group capturing her fourth consecutive scholastic award with a cumulative 3.95 GPA as a nutrition exercise and health sciences major. Junior Kailyn Hawkins, a public relations major, earned her third honor while sisters Amanda and Jennifer Lauer also added their third consecutive spot on the list. Sophomore Hollie Blanske picked up her second award as a business marketing major. Freshman Jennie Laeng, a psychology major, captured her first honor as she recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Student-athletes were eligible for recognition on the list by attaining a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. 517 women’s gymnasts across the country in all three NCAA divisions hit the 3.5 benchmark this past year. As a team the Huskers recorded a GPA of 3.4423.
