The Nebraska
swimming and diving team opens its regular season Friday, Oct. 12, against the University
of North Dakota and St. Cloud State in Grand Forks, N.D. It will be the Huskers'
first regular season competition on the season, and their first meet since the
alumni meet on Sep. 30. All three squads will return to the water at 11 a.m. on
Saturday, Oct. 13, to finish the competition.
The Huskers posted
a 4-2 record in duals last season, with the only losses coming against Kansas
and Illinois. Last season's opener saw Nebraska defeat the Jackrabbits of South
Dakota State 199-93. Nebraska did not face North Dakota or St. Cloud State in duals in
2011-12.
This week
marks the first of a three-week stretch of duals for the Huskers. Following the
dual against UND and St. Cloud State, the Huskers will head to Omaha, Neb., on
Oct. 19 to face Nebraska-Omaha. The Huskers will then return to play host to Nebraska-Omaha
at the Devaney Natatorium on Oct. 20. Finally, the squad will travel to Ames,
Iowa, on Oct. 26 to face Iowa State and South Dakota.

time Out: Huskers Finish Preseason with Alumni Meet (9/30/12)
The Nebraska swimming and diving team finished their
preseason Saturday morning with their ninth-annual alumni meet at the Devaney
Natatorium.
The Huskers were led by senior Hayley Martin, who won
both the 50- and 100-yard backstroke events. Other Husker victors were Taryn
Collura in the 50-yard freestyle, Nikolina Sabo in the 100-yard butterfly,
Shannon Guy in the 50-yard breaststroke, Kristin Strecker in the 100-yard
breaststroke, and Ariel Weech in the 25-yard freestyle.
