The Nebraska
swimming and diving team is hitting the road for back-to-back duals against
in-state foe UNO and Big 12 conference foe Iowa State on Jan. 28 and 29,
respectively. The Huskers (4-3, 0-1) are looking for their fifth dual win of
the season after dropping their last dual to Kansas on Jan. 15. The short
road trip marks the second time the Huskers have made such a trip on the
season, with the first trip being a successful sweep of South Dakota and South
Dakota State back in November.
The Huskers
head to Omaha on the first leg of the trip to take on UNO (2-1-1). Nebraska is
unblemished against UNO as Big Red sports an all-time 13-0 record against the
Mavericks. The Huskers defeated UNO last year at the Devaney Natatorium
188.5-107.5.
Following
the competition in Omaha, the Huskers will make their second stop of the trip
in Ames, Iowa. The Huskers will be competing in their second Big 12 conference
competition of the year, and final conference dual against Iowa State (5-3,
0-1) as Nebraska transitions into the Big Ten. The Huskers have an all-time
record 29-4 against the Cyclones and defeated them last year 177-123 at the
Devaney Natatorium on senior day.
Following
the brief trip, the Huskers will return to action for their final dual of the
year and senior day against the Missouri Tigers. The dual will kick off from
the Devaney Natatorium at 2 p.m. on Feb. 5. The seniors that will be honored
include Claire Desormey, Julie Giehl, Kelsey Grushecky, Blaine Hoppenrath,
Brandie Kavalec, Meredith Matthies and Rachell McClain.
