Session Six: Two Qualify for Swimming Finals

The Nebraska swimming and diving team finished session six of the Big Ten Championships on Saturday morning. During the session, Ariel Weech and Shannon Guy qualified for Saturday evening's finals in each of their respective events (100-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly) The finals will take place at 6:30 on Saturday evening.

Ellan Dufour finished 26th in the 200-yard backstroke in a season-best performance of 2:01.07.

In the second preliminary of the afternoon, Ariel Weech swam to a career-best timein the 100-yard freestyle. Her time of 50.38 qualified her for Saturday evening's finals.

The 200-yard breaststroke saw Kristin Strecker, Ashley Reiter and Nikolina Sabo finish back-to-back-to-back at 41st, 42nd and 43rd, each setting a personal milestone in the process.

Shannon Guy qualified for Saturday night's final in the 200-yard butterfly to wrap up the morning's session. Natalie Morris also set a career-best time in the event.

The seventh and final session of the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships will take place on Saturday evening with the finals of the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 1,650-yard freestyle, platform diving and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
