Iowa City, Iowa - Taryn Collura won the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best time, Nicole Schwery took home second place in the platform dive and the Huskers held off Iowa for third place at the Hawkeye Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Nebraska finished the meet with a total of 462, outscoring the Hawkeyes by 26 points.
The final session's first event saw Bailey Pons (16:47.94) and Morgan Flannigan (17:03.73) finish fourth and ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle for the Huskers. Both Pons and Flannigan swam season-best times, joining Ashleigh Grammar (22nd) and Michaela Cunningham (26th), who swam respective season-best times of 17:52.64 and 18:11.25.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Nebraska's Erin Oeltjen (1:59.19) and Rebekah Land (2:02.13) took seventh and 16th, respectively. Oeltjen's time was a career best, while Land swam a career-best 2:02.00 in the prelims. Additionally, Megan Ziemann and Jacqueline Juffer finished 24th and 35th in the event for the Huskers.

The 100-yard freestyle saw Taryn Collura swim a season-best 50.03 on her way to victory. Alexandra Bilunas (51.62), Bria Deveaux (50.99) and Shannon Guy (51.73) took 15th, 17th and 20th. Both Deveaux and Guy swam career bests in the finals, while Bilunas swam a career-best 51.40 in the prelims.

Nebraska's Kristin Strecker (2:18.79), Katie Ditter (2:19.37) and Samantha Hardewig (2:21.09) finished 14th, 19th and 21st in the 200-yard breaststroke. Ditter and Hardewig posted career-best times in the finals, while Strecker swam a season-best 2:17.99 in the prelims.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Natalie Morris (2:01.39) and Melisa Mexia (2:01.32) earned fifth and ninth for the Huskers. For Morris, her time was a season best in the event. Mexia's time was a career best, joining Julia Roller, who finished 13th in a career-best 2:03.34.

In the meet's final individual event, the platform dive, Nicole Schwery took second place with a score of 250.35. Schwery dove her way to a season best earlier in the day, scoring a 256.15 in the prelims. Kaitlan Walker also made the evening's finals, recording a season-best 216.65 on her way to eighth place.

The Huskers finished the Hawkeye Invitational with a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Nebraska's team of Bilunas, Deveaux, Guy and Collura swam a season-best time of 3:23.41.
Overall, Nebraska earned eight top-five finishes, including victories from Collura (100 free) and Anna Filipcic (three-meter dive). Collura added a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, while Schwery gave the Huskers their second top-two finish in the diving events on Sunday.
The Huskers have a week to prepare for two road duals that will close out fall competition for the squad. First, the Huskers will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to take on the Northern Iowa Panthers on Friday, Dec. 13. The following day, Dec. 14, the squad will travel to Omaha, Neb., to face the Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha.
