Akinmoladun Named Missouri Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year

Future Husker Dapo Akinmoladun was honored as the Missouri Gatorade Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year. A native of Grandview, Mo., Akinmoladun specializes in the hurdles and sprints.

Akinmoladun won individual state titles in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 13.56 and the 300 meter hurdles in 37.34, while earning a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 22.41. His accomplishments helped lead the Grandview High School Bulldogs to the Missouri Class 3 State Championship in 2012. He is a two-time First-Team All-State honoree and set a state record in the 110 hurdles at the Kansas Relays, notching a time of 13.75. His state-winning time of 13.56 in the 110 meter hurdles ranked as the nation's No. 5 performance among prep competitors in 2012.

Akinmoladun is also a standout student and a member of numerous clubs and extracurricular activities at Grandview High School. In addition, he has volunteered in the local community in association with the National Honor Society.
