Chad Wright finished second in the shot put at the 2013 Big Ten Indoor Championships, posting a personal-best throw of 61-10 1/2 (18.86)... earned second-team All-Big Ten honors for his finish at the conference meet... competed in five meets during the 2013 indoor season.
Wright forever etched his name into the Husker record books during the 2012 season, completing his sophomore season in stunning fashion with his first NCAA Championship... made Husker history with a winning throw of 206-0 (62.78) on his fifth attempt of competition in Des Moines, Iowa... his mark was the longest throw in Division I in 2012, earning him the national title and was the longest winning distance at the NCAA Championships since 2007... became Nebraska's 18th men's outdoor national champion... notched the second All-America honors of his career... set an outdoor personal-best of 61-1 1/2 (18.63) in the shot put at the 2012 Big Ten Outdoor Championships, finishing fifth overall... set an indoor personal-best of 59-11 1/4 (18.26) in the shot put at the adidas Classic on Jan. 21... took second in the discus at the 2012 Big Ten Outdoor Championships with a throw of 195-1 (59.46)... named the Big Ten Male Field Athlete of the Week twice in 2012... recorded a throw of 198-5 (60.47) in the discus at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz., which ranked first in the conference and second in the nation at the time... earned second-team All-Big Ten honors at the 2012 Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
Wright earned All-America honors in his first national meet at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing sixth as the top freshman in the NCAA discus competition... competed in eight meets during the indoor track and field season... recorded a personal-best 59-2 1/4 (18.04) in the shot put at the Texas A&M Challenge... capped his outdoor season with All-America accolades in discus with a throw of 184-7 (56.26) and a sixth-place finish... placed seventh in the shot put (52-7, 16.02) and sixth in discus (185-9, 56.61) at the 2011 Big 12 Outdoor Championships... also recorded a season best of 58-3 3/4 (17.77) in the shot put at the Nebraska Open... notched a season-best 189-11 (57.88) at the Tom Jones Memorial in the discus.

Wright is the most recent addition to the Husker program from Calabar High School in Kingston, Jamaica, following former Husker and 2009 indoor long jump champion Nicholas Gordon... one of the top junior throwers in Jamaica, as he holds national junior records in the shot put and discus... placed fifth at the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships in the discus and finished 14th in the shot put... swept the shot and discus at the 2010 Jamaican Junior Championships with throws of 200-4 (61.06) and 61-11 (18.87) using junior implements... mark in the shot put set the Jamaican junior record... competed at the senior championships and held his own with a fourth-place finish in the shot (52-5, 15.97) and broke the national junior record in the discus with a second-place toss of 179-4 (54.66)... added discus titles at the 2010 Carifta Games and Penn Relays... threw 207-0 (63.09) with a 1.75 kg discus at the Carifta Games and then tossed 191-11 (58.49) two weeks later in Philadelphia, Pa., with a 1.6 kg implement... chose Nebraska over LSU.
