Lincoln – Nebraska’s Ben Miller earned his first career weekly honor from the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday, as he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. It marks the second straight week and the third time this season that a Husker freshman has earned the award, with Ryan Boldt tabbed for the honor twice this season.

Miller helped the Huskers to a 4-0 record last week, including a series sweep of Penn State. The Clive, Iowa, native hit .538 for the week with a 7-for-13 performance at the plate.

During the three-game series against the Nittany Lions, Miller tallied three multi-hit performances and tied Jake Placzek for the team lead with five runs scored.

Miller posted an on-base percentage of .625 in the four games, as he added two walks and a hit-by-pitch to his seven hits and didn’t strikeout all week.

The Huskers return to the field this weekend when they open a three-game series against the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday, May 10 at 2:05 p.m. The series runs Saturday-Sunday-Monday.
