Lincoln Nebraska senior pitcher Johnny Dorn was the fourth Husker taken in the first 15 rounds of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft, as he was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 15th round (No. 448 overall) on Friday.

Dorn is the second Husker pitcher taken by the Marlins in the 2008 draft, joining Dan Jennings, who was taken in the ninth round earlier Friday. It is the first time that Dorn has been drafted in his baseball career.  He wrapped up one of the most decorated pitching careers in 2008, finishing his four-year career with a 37-11 record. He ranked second in school history in wins, strikeouts (298), innings (386.2) and starts (58) and is one of only two pitchers in school history to reach double figures in wins more than once in his career.

This season, the Golden Spikes and Howser Award semifinalist compiled a 6-2 record with a 2.45 ERA in 15 starts. He ranked second in the Big 12 with 102 strikeouts and is among the top five of the conference in in opponent batting average (.214, five), innings pitched (106.1, third) and ERA (fifth). A first-team All-Big 12 selection, he allowed three runs or less in 13 of his 15 starts this season and reached double figures in strikeouts four times, including a career-high 13 strikeouts against Northern Colorado.
