Head Coach Nino Giarratano
Opening Statement
We’re really glad to be here in Lincoln. I think it’s a wonderful ballpark and a wonderful place to play a Regional. It seems like we have the melting pot of teams here with the University of Nebraska, University of Miami all the way in Miami, San Francisco University all the way out west and Manhattan University from New York. It can’t get any better than that as far as the four teams that are in it.

On playing in a big-time atmosphere
I think we probably draw between 300 and 600 fans at our ballpark. We have played in front of some bigger crowds 2,000 when we played at AT&T Park, so we have had that atmosphere. More importantly, we’re just going to have to try and make baseball plays. We welcome the opportunity to play in front of 8-10,000 people, and we have talked about what it will be like to play in the sea of red. We hope we get that opportunity sometime soon.

Stefan Gartrell
On San Francisco playing in its first NCAA Tournament
I think that it’s extremely exciting for us. It is our first time here, and we’re just soaking up the experience right now and enjoying it every day. Just having fun, going out here and practicing on this beautiful field. It’s just a lot of fun.

On playing Miami
I think first when we found out that we got in we totally forgot who we were playing and where we were going. We were just really happy. But then when we slowed down and realized who we were playing, and we knew that they were a good team. They have been here a lot of times, but we know we are a good team too and we are just going to go out there, have fun and play our game.

Patrick McGuigan
On leading USF to its first Regional
I think it’s been building since coach got here. He’s done a lot of good work bringing the right people in and setting forth to come closer to make it this year to a regional. Leadership wise, it was just kind of keeping your head down and working as hard as you can. People follow you when you do things the right way. That’s what has taken place in the four years that Steffan (Gartrell) and I have been here.

Scott Cousins
On calming the team’s nerves
I think if I go out there and play the game of baseball and just help the team realize that we are playing the game of baseball then it will settle everyone’s nerves. If we don’t get caught up in the atmosphere and the fact that we are playing a great team like Miami that has been in this thing 34 straight years and realize that we’re just playing baseball, everything will go a lot smoother. If I can just pitch my game that’s going to help our team out so much more.
