Manhattan Head Coach Kevin Leighton

Opening Statement

“It’s just another game that we had to battle. San Francisco is a great club. Early on in the game we had some key plays where they couldn’t make the play and we couldn’t capitalize on it and they turned out to be the story of the game. A lot of games are won and lost in the first inning and I think that happened today with us.”

On pitcher Josh Santerre

“Josh kept us in the game. Every time we got in a little bit of trouble he was able to work out of it. Their hitters did a great job. They hit a couple at-them balls and we were able to get out of it.”

On pitching out of multiple jams

“I just kept trying to battle and just thinking to myself to make pitches. I just have to thank my defense. All day long they got me out of jams. Toward the end I just started making pitches and just got out of it.”

San Francisco Head Coach Nino Giarratano

Opening Statement

“First of all I’m really happy for Kevin (Leighton) and Manhattan coming in as a 4 seed and moving on to the (regional) championship (game). Great feeling for a young coach and I wish him the best. They played well today and played well in the whole tournament to compete with the teams. I am just a little frustrated that our team didn’t play to its capability. We had a little trouble playing catch today. It cost us some runs and we couldn’t get that big hit to get us over the top. Sometimes that happens in games like this. I just know that this team is a whole lot better than they performed in the two losses that they had. In the game that they won I thought they played fabulous.”

Patrick McGuigan

“I just came in and tried to execute a role. Your job as a reliever is to keep your team in the game and I was able to do that in my two outings.”
