Freshman Season [2014]
Rachel Arthur was one of Nebraska’s most versatile players as a freshman, earning playing time on both the infield and the outfield. Arthur started the season opener at shortstop, while also earning a pair of starts in right field and one start as the Huskers’ designated player. Overall, Arthur appeared in 13 games as a freshman, as she also saw action as a defensive replacement and pinch runner.

Although she primarily earned playing time for her defense, Arthur did earn four plate appearances on the season. She was hitless in three at bats but produced one walk and one RBI, while scoring a pair of runs. While starting the season opener against UTEP, Arthur drew a bases-loaded walk in her first career plate appearance, producing her first career RBI. She scored her first career run on Feb. 23 against Boise State and scored again two weeks later against San Jose State on March 7.

Defensively, Arthur committed only one error in 10 chances at shortstop. Off the field, Arthur was named to Nebraska’s 2014 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Before Nebraska
Arthur is one of eight Nebraska natives on the Huskers’ 2015 roster. She is also one of two Lincoln natives competing for her hometown school, along with high school teammate Kat Woolman.

Arthur played for Lincoln Pius X High School, helping the Thunderbolts to a state title as a senior in 2012. Arthur was a Lincoln Journal Star honorable-mention Class B all-state selection as a junior in 2011, and she was named one of 12 players to watch in Class B for the 2012 season according to the publication. She capped her career by earning repeat all-state honors as a senior.

Arthur played her travel ball for the Nebraska Nemesis. She helped the Nemesis win the USSSA 16-and-under World Series in the summer of 2011, finishing with a 10-0 record. Arthur produced three RBIs in the Nemesis’ 8-0 victory over the Minnesota Blizzard in the championship game.
