Hagemann & Haget Earn Academic All-District Honors

By NU Athletic Communications

Seniors Ashley Hagemann and Nikki Haget were each named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Softball team, announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Hagemann and Haget, both natives of Elkhorn, Neb., were each named the academic all-district squad for the third straight season and were first-team honorees for the second year in a row. With their first-team selections this year, the duo advances to the national ballot where they will look to add to Nebraska's nation-leading total of 29 softball CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Hagemann earned second-team academic All-America honors last season, while Haget was a third-team selection.

Hagemann carries a 3.639 grade-point average as an elementary education major. In addition to being a three-time academic all-district honoree and a 2011 CoSIDA Academic All-American, Hagemann was a two-time academic All-Big 12 first-team selection. On the field, Hagemann became Nebraska's all-time strikeout leader last week, and the right-hander ranks fourth nationally in strikeouts this season. She was also one of 30 national candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for softball this spring.

A forensics science major, Haget owns a 3.948 grade-point average. Like Hagemann, Haget is a three-time academic all-district honoree, a 2011 CoSIDA Academic All-American and a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection. On the field, Haget holds one school record and was a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2010.

Nebraska was the only school from the Big Ten Conference to boast more than one academic all-district selection. The list of first-, second- and third-team CoSIDA Academic All-Americans will be announced later this month.
