The threat of inclement weather has altered the schedule for this weekend’s softball series between Nebraska and Iowa at Bowlin Stadium. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. with the series finale scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, weather permitting.
The change was made with the hopes of getting in all three games before Sunday, when rain is forecast for the Lincoln area. Fans with tickets to Sunday’s game can use their tickets for general admission tickets to any future regular-season softball game this season. General admission seating at Bowlin Stadium does include one section of chairback seats.
Sunday was scheduled to be Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Bowlin Stadium, but that event will now take place on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to wear pink, and pink pom-poms will be handed out to the first 500 fans. Other promotions this weekend include Military Appreciation Day on Friday, where active and retired military personnel will receive free admission into the doubleheader. On Saturday, fans attending the Red-White Spring Game will be admitted into the softball game for free with their football ticket. Fathers bringing their daughters to Saturday’s softball game will also receive $1 admission each.
Nebraska, ranked 19th this week, enters the weekend series with a 27-13 overall record and a 5-4 mark in Big Ten play. The Huskers are tied for fourth in the conference standings, one game ahead of Iowa.
Revised Weekend Schedule
Game 1 – 4 p.m.
Game 2 – 6 p.m.
