2003 OutlookEasily one of the most versatile offensive players in school history, senior center fielder Kim Ogee (pronounced OH-gee) became the Huskers? 10th NFCA All-American after a spectacular season as NU?s leadoff hitter. The Omaha, Neb., native led the Huskers in 10 offensive categories, including batting average (.356), home runs (10), walks (37) and steals (31).
After her impressive junior season, Ogee was among the 50 players invited to participate in the USA Softball Women?s National Team Camp Sept. 26-29 at the ARCO Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
Nebraska Coach Rhonda Revelle expects more of the same this season from Ogee, who already ranks among the top five at NU on five career charts and needs just 13 stolen bases to break the NU career record of 91 set by Jennifer Lizama in 2000.
2002 Junior SeasonOgee hit leadoff and did everything for Nebraska at the plate ... led the Huskers in 10 offensive categories, including batting average (.356), runs scored (55), hits (69), doubles (12), home runs (10), total bases (113) slugging percentage (.582), walks (37), on-base percentage (.464), and stolen bases (31) ... broke the 12-year-old school record for steals in a single season and moved into second on the career charts with 79 ... led the Big 12 in stolen bases, runs scored and walks ... ranked second in the league in on-base percentage and fourth in batting average, hits and total bases ... ranked first on the squad with 21 multiple-hit games ... hit .388 with runners on base and .378 with runners in scoring position ... produced a team-best 12-game hitting streak from Feb. 23 to March 14, going 19-for-40 (.475) with 12 runs scored, four home runs, 10 RBIs and eight stolen bases ... earned NCAA All-Region VII honors after going 5-for-13 (.385) with three RBIs in four games ... was named the Big 12 Player of the Week March 19 after leading the Huskers to the Capital Classic title while hitting .560 (14-for-25) with four home runs, a double and 10 runs scored. She also posted seven RBIs, 27 total bases, a 1.080 slugging percentage, a .593 on-base percentage, and five stolen bases ... was named to the Capital Classic All-Tournament team ... was selected as the MVP of the Florida State Invitational after going 9-for-20 (.450) with three runs scored, four RBIs, a double and a home run ... was named to the NFCA All-Tournament team after going 8-for-20 (.400) with six runs scored, five RBIs and two home runs in six games ... led off five games with home runs, including March 10 against Ball State, March 16 against Kansas, March 17 against Miami (Ohio), April 17 against Iowa State and April 28 against Texas Tech ... earned second-team Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and first-team Academic All-Big 12 accolades.
2001 Sophomore SeasonOgee quietly pieced together a spectacular sophomore season ... ranked first on the team with a .314 batting average, 42 runs scored, 207 at bats, 65 hits, 238 total plate appearances and 27 stolen bases ... tied for first on the team with 17 multiple-hit games ... moved from leadoff to the No. 2 spot for the March 10 Buffalo game, and hit .348 in NU?s last 37 contests after hitting .288 before the Buffalo game ... hit for a team-best .400 (20-for-50) average in April ... hit .462 in the Huskers' 16 home games ... hit .359 with a team-best 56 hits in Nebraska's 51 wins ... hit .667 (4-for-6) with the bases loaded and .377 with runners on base ... ended the regular season ranked among the Big 12?s top 20 in four different categories, including third in runs scored, fifth in stolen bases, seventh in hits and 16th in batting average ... finished tied for second on the NU single-season stolen bases chart, just two off Joy Rishel's 29 in 1990 ... finished the season ranked fifth on the Nebraska career charts with 48 stolen bases in two seasons ... slugged sixth-inning, game-winning runs for NU twice in 2001 in come-from behind victories ? 2000 Freshman SeasonA highly sought after walk-on in 1999, Ogee was the surprise of the 2000 season ... filled the leadoff spot for NU and was one of the Huskers' most consistent batters ... was second on the team with a .335 average ... led NU with 74 hits, which ranks fourth on the NU single-season chart ... ranked first on the team with 46 runs scored ... also ranked first on the team with 221 at bats, setting a Nebraska single-season record ... finished the season ranked second among all Huskers with 20 multiple-hit games ... was tied for first on the team with three triples, producing two against UC Santa Barbara Feb. 18 ... selected to the Big 12 All-Tournament team after hitting .375 (6-for-16) with seven runs scored through five games ... hit safely in eight of Nebraska's 10 postseason games, averaging .350 at the plate ... tied for sixth on the NU single-season chart with 21 stolen bases in 30 attempts ... committed just one error in 39 chances and occasionally converted would-be singles into outs at first base with her strong arm ... did not commit an error in Big 12 play ... recorded a .974 fielding percentage ... played in 72 of Nebraska's 73 games, which ranks fourth on the NU single-season chart.
