Record Tied for Ninth After Two Rounds

Goodyear, Ariz. – Senior Matt Record fired a season-low 3-under-par 69 in the second round of the Desert Shootout to lead the Nebraska men’s golf team on Friday.

Record is tied for ninth individually at 5-under-par 139 after 36 holes. He trails tournament leader Mark Geddes of GCU by eight strokes heading into Saturday’s final round at Palm Valley Golf Club, a par-72, 7,015-yard layout. In Thursday’s opening round, Record posted 2-under-par 70.

The Huskers are in ninth place as a team, trailing tournament leader CSU-Fullerton by 12 strokes. Nebraska carded 285 on Friday after posting a season-best 282 on Thursday. The Huskers are seeking their fifth top-10 finish of the season.

Junior Calvin Freeman is tied for 15th at 4-under-par 140. Freeman, a Table Rock, Neb., native, managed an even-par 72 in Friday’s second round after a stellar 68 in the first round.

Josh Reinertson, a Gibbon, Neb., native, notched his second consecutive 71 on Friday to tie his season low score. The junior is tied for 24th at 142 heading into the final day of competition.

Mike Siwa shot 76 on Friday for a two-day total of 154. He is tied for 80th, while Aaron Wong, playing as an individual, is tied for 73rd. Wong carded 73 in the second round and has a 152 total.

The final round of the Desert Shootout commences on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
