Crick Falls to Hurley in Nebraska Match Play Final

Former Nebraska men's golfer Brandon Crick was defeated by Texas A&M's John Hurley in the final of the Nebraska Match Play Championship, 5 and 3, on Friday at Omaha Country Club.

Hurley's victory gave him three match play titles in the last four years. The O'Neill native was 3 up at the lunch break and won four of the first five holes to begin the final 18 holes. Crick responded by winning three straight to cut Hurley's lead to 4 up, but Hurley then won Match Holes 28 and 29 to take firm control of the match.

Crick was the 2008 Match Play Champion and 2007 and 2009 Nebraska Men's Amateur Champion. The McCook native will make his professional debut at the Cox Classic in Omaha, July 29-Aug. 1.
