French Lick, Ind. - The Nebraska men's golf team is tied for 10th at the Big Ten Championship after shooting 621 through two rounds at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick on Friday.
Manuel Lavin, Jordan Reinertson and Scott Willman are all tied for 27th at 155 strokes after Friday's 36 holes. Lavin opened the tournament with a 6-over-par 78 and followed it up with a 77 in the second round. Meanwhile, Reinertson fired a 3-over-par 75 before an 80 in the second round. Willman shot rounds of 79 and 76 on Friday.
Freshman Ross Dickson is tied for 33rd at 156 strokes through 36 holes. Dickson was tied for 22nd after carding a 76 in the first round. He followed that up with an 80 in the second round.
Ryan Grassel, who is also in his first year with the Husker program, is tied for 58th after posting 167 on Friday. The sophomore paced his way to an 84 in the first round before adding an 83 in the second round. Grassel is playing in his fifth event as a Husker after not participating in the previous two tournaments for NU.
Illinois leads the team competition at the halfway point of the Big Ten Championship at 592 strokes. The Fighting Illini lead Michigan State by three strokes. Luke Guthrie of Illinois is leading the individual competition by two strokes over Northwestern's Sam Chien at 143 strokes.
The Big Ten Championship continues with the third round on Saturday before Sunday's final round. On Saturday, the Huskers tee off at 9:40 a.m., on Hole No. 10. Nebraska will be paired with Ohio State.
