Neisen Leads Huskers in Utah

St. George, Utah - Steffi Neisen led four Huskers in the top 25 as the Nebraska women's golf team closed the first 36 holes at the BYU at Entrada Classic in a tie for third on Monday.

Neisen, a sophomore from New Prague, Minn., followed an opening-round 73 with a second-round 78 to tie for eighth with a 151. She was joined in the top 15 by teammate Madeleine Sheils. The senior from Boise, Idaho, notched back-to-back rounds of 76 to sit in 12th place at 152.

Fellow senior Kayla Knopik from Papillion, Neb., was just one shot back at 153 (78-75) in a tie for 13th, while sophomore Katelyn Wright (Incline Village, Nev.) closed the day in a tie for 25th at 158 (80-78). Senior Katie Keiser from Gothenburg, Neb., rounded out Nebraska's top five in a tie for 42nd with rounds of 79 and 83 to head into Tuesday's final round at 162.

With solid individual scoring, the Huskers were able to produce rounds of 306 and 307 to head into the final round in a tie for third at 613 in the 12-team field. Texas State grabbed a 12-stroke lead over second-place Oklahoma State heading into the final round. Texas State fired back-to-back rounds of 300 to close the second round at 600, while OSU opened with a 313 before notching the day's best round with a 299 to end the day at 612.

Oklahoma State's Kelsey Vines sits atop the individual leaderboard at 146 with rounds of 72 and 74, two strokes ahead of Hailey Koschmann from Illinois (72-76-148) and Texas State's Krista Puisite (74-74-148).

The three-round tournament concludes on Tuesday in St. George, Utah, before the Huskers head to Tucson, Ariz., for the Mountain View Collegiate later this week.
