Huskers Head to L.A. For ITA Kick-Off Weekend
NU Heads To Los Angeles For ITA Kick-off Weekend
The Huskers head to sunny Los Angeles, Calif. to participate in the ITA Kick-off Weekend even hosted by UCLA. The event is on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 25-26 and the teams participating are No. 2 UCLA, No. 53 Texas Tech, No. 60 Nebraska and No. 66 Wisconsin.
The Huskers are set to face No. 53 Texas Tech on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 9 a.m. followed by the No. 2 UCLA versus No. 66 Wisconsin match at 2 p.m. Following Saturday’s results, the losers of the two matches are scheduled to play on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. in a consolation match followed by the event’s championship match at 1 p.m. between the winner’s of the first two matches.

Sixty men’s and sixty women’s teams will be competing across the country for the right to qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships to be hosted in February by Texas A&M (in Houston) on the men’s side and UVA on the women’s side. The 15 men’s and 15 women’s universities hosting ITA Kick-Off Weekend events were designated as host sites in order of their year-end 2013 ITA team ranking. Three visiting schools will travel to each host site for a four-team tournament. The host school will meet the No. 4 seed, the No. 2 seed will play the No. 3 seed, and the winners will come back to play for a berth at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Huskers In The ITA National Rankings
Nebraska remained at No. 60 in the ITA Top 75 after its 1-1 start last weekend on the road. The national ITA Top 75 rankings were released on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The Big Red are one of ten Big Ten teams in the ITA Top 75. Nebraska is joined by No. 5 Ohio State, No. 22 Illinois, No. 26 Michigan, No. 31 Northwestern, No. 39 Minnesota, No. 49 Michigan State, No. 56 Indiana, No. 66 Wisconsin and No. 72 Purdue. The Huskers are the eighth-highest ranked Big Ten team.
Scouting the Texas Tech Red Raiders

National Ranking: 53
The Red Raiders are 1-0 with a victory over UTSA heading into the ITA Kick-off weekend to face the 1-1 Huskers. Texas Tech went 15-11 overall in 2013 and lost to TCU in the first round of the Big 12 Championships. The Red Raiders are ranked No. 53 with two ranked singles players in No. 65 Hugo Dojas and No. 101Felipe Soares and one ranked duo in No. 33 Hugo Dojas and Maxime Hinnisdaels.

National Ranking: 66
The Badgers are 0-0 headed into the ITA Kick-Off event. Wisconsin went 13-12 overall in 2013 and lost to Purdue in the first round of the Big Ten Championships. The Badgers are ranked No. 66 with no ranked singles or duos.

2013 Record: 29-2, 7-0 PAC-12
National Ranking: 2
The Bruins are 1-0 to begin the season with a 7-0 win over UC Irvine headed into the ITA Kick-Off event. UCLA went 29-2 overall in 2013 and 7-0 in the PAC-12. UCLA won the PAC-12 Championship tournament in a 4-2 victory over USC in the finals. The Bruins were the NCAA runners-up after falling 4-3 to Virginia in the NCAA Tournament Finals. The Bruins are ranked No. 2 with five ranked singles players in the ITA Top 125 with No. 1 Clay Thompson, No. 11 Marcos Giron, No. 62 Mackenzie McDonald, No. 64 Karue Sell and No. 120 Gage Brymer. UCLA also has one ranked duo in No. 10 Marcos Giron and Mackenzie McDonald.
