The Nebraska women’s tennis team announced on Monday the signing of Stefanie Weinstein, the highest-ranked player from Germany to ever sign with the Huskers. The Much, Germany, native is currently ranked 48th in the country.

“We are honored that someone as gifted as Stefanie will be becoming a member of our Husker family this coming fall,” Head Coach Scott Jacobson said.

Current Husker freshman Madeleine Geibert was previously the highest-ranked German player to ever commit to the Huskers, as she was ranked 63rd in the country when she came to Nebraska. The Husker coaches expect Weinstein to make an immediate impact on the Husker lineup next season, especially if her skills are comparable to Geibert, who has been one of Nebraska’s top players this season.

“She is a tremendously gifted player and an incredible young lady,” Jacobson said.
