Bolton Qualifies for Intercollegiate Singles Championships

Nebraska bowling transfer Elise Bolton won the Fairview Heights, Ill., region of the Intercollegiate Singles Sectional Qualifier on Friday, March 9. The top four finishers of each of four different regions (Allentown, Pa., Smyrna, Tenn., Fairview Heights, Ill., Euless, Texas) qualify for the field of sixteen that will compete in the 2012 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championships, held from April 17-21 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb.

Bolton bowled a six game series of 1,382 with games of 213, 264, 279, 226, 213 and 187 to win the regional. Kaitlin Quinn (1,358), Amanda Dodd (1,270) and Georgia Drewes (1,242) also qualified for the singles championships at the regional.

Former Nebraska bowler Jasmine Laugermann also competed in the regional and finished 23rd at 1,157.

The Nebraska bowling team is back in action from March 16-18 at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn., followed by the NCAA Championships which will run from April 12-14 in Cleveland, Ohio.
