2014-15 (Senior)
Senior Andrea Ruiz capped off her final season with the Nebraska bowling team in high regard, as the Colombian native helped lead the Huskers to their fifth NCAA title in 2015. Ruiz, a leader on and off the lanes, earned academic All-Big Ten honors and was named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for the second time in 2015.

A native of Bogota, Colombia, Ruiz placed sixth overall at the Federacion Colombiana De Bowling Selectivo Nacional 2015 in Medellin, earning a spot on her home countries national team. Ruiz’s performance was one of her top moments of her senior campaign, as she averaged an impressive 206.23 in the nine-day-competition, in front of many friends and family.

Used primarily as the third bowler in the five-women-rotation in Baker format, Ruiz was a steady contributor for the Huskers throughout the 2015 season. She was at her best at the Prairie View A&M in Dallas, where she averaged an impressive 215.6 game average, placing her 16th individually.

Ruiz shined at Nebraska’s lone home competition in Lincoln at Sun Valley Lanes, as she compiled a 208.7 game average to help guide NU to a victory at the Big Red Invitational.

At the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Ruiz averaged a very admirable 200 game average throughout the three-day-championship. In the championship final against Stephen F. Austin, Ruiz helped guide the Huskers early in the championship match, rolling four strikes in her first six attempts of the match.

2013-14 (Junior)
In her second season as a Husker, Ruiz delivered several solid performances as one of Nebraska’s leaders. Ruiz contributed to a win over Central Missouri on the first day of the NCAA Tournament by tallying an impressive 217 to help the team to a second-place finish overall.

Ruiz delivered an impressive start to the third day of the Big Red Invitational, Nebraska’s lone home meet of the season, as she bowled a solid 225. Her performance contributed to a victory for the Huskers.

Ruiz produced a strong total pinfall of 1,048 to help the team to a third-place finish among 13 teams at the Mid-Winter Invite in Jonesboro, Ark.

Succeeding on and off the lanes, Ruiz earned academic All-Big Ten honors as a junior. She earned the Nebraska Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award, which honors exceptional leadership, consistent and dedicated community service, and positive influence on the team. She was also named to the inaugural Tom Osborne Citizenship Team, which honors student-athletes for their outstanding commitment to community service.

2012-13 (Sophomore)
A newcomer to Nebraska in 2012-13, Ruiz made herself a mainstay in the starting lineup throughout the season. She posted a 190.9 average including a 183.2 average at the 2013 NCAA Championships.

Ruiz shined in Nebraska's NCAA Championship match victory over Vanderbilt, rolling her first strike in the eighth frame to seal a crucial Husker win.

Ruiz posted a pair of stellar performances in back-to-back regular-season tournaments. She notched a season-high 202.6 average at the Central Missouri Women's Bowling Invitational (March 1-3). Ruiz produced 100 pocket hits with only 12 open frames in the tournament. Her effort at Central Missouri followed her 200.8 average to help the Huskers at the Morgan State Invite (Feb. 15-17).

A solid performer in the classroom, Ruiz earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13.
