Nebraska Soccer Field
It's game day, and what better place to be than nestled in the middle of the Nebraska campus cheering on the Huskers as they face some of the top teams in the nation while adding to the tradition of NU Soccer.
Located in between the home of two other storied programs - Husker football and volleyball - the Nebraska Soccer Field adds the finishing touch to the well-conceived layout the Huskers enjoy. The west end of the field leads to the Hawks Championship Center, allowing Nebraska to utilize their locker room at halftime, in addition to pregame and postgame.
Amenities such as sideline seating that give fans an up-close view of the action mere feet from the sidelines, a new video screen/scoreboard and conveniently located concessions and restrooms add to the atmosphere, along with a brilliant red 'N' emblazened across the center circle in the middle of the field.
The Nebraska Soccer Field offers a truly unique setting unlike any other in the nation. Its proximity to the Huskers' locker rooms and meeting rooms, as well as the strength and athletic medicine facilities makes Nebraska's newest facilities not only the most unique, but the most functional and convenient as well.
Nebraska's home field has also given the Huskers a definitive advantage. Since moving to campus in 2005, the Huskers are 54-22-12 at home over the past eight seasons, including an impressive combined record of 25-11-4 over the past four seasons. The facilities features seating for at least 3,500.
Nebraska Soccer and Tennis Complex
The Nebraska soccer team could begin play at the new Soccer and Tennis Complex in the fall of 2014.
On Thursday, July 18, 2013, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the program statement and budget for Nebraska Athletics to build dedicated, on-campus soccer and tennis practice and competition facilities.
The $20.4 million Nebraska Soccer and Tennis Complex will be located on 28 acres owned by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The 28 acres, the former site of the State Fair campground, is adjacent to the Nebraska Innovation Campus currently under development. The site has been cleared of the old campground RV support infrastructure as part of the demolition of the old State Fair Park buildings and related structures. The new facility will be built with private donations.
The new soccer facilities will include one outdoor, lighted, full-sized competition field with seating for approximately 2,500 spectators. Facilities for tennis will include 12 lighted outdoor courts and six indoor courts with a combined total of 1,400 seats for spectators. With minor renovations, the former campground shower house will be repurposed into mechanical space and equipment storage for the soccer field maintenance and ticket windows. Approximately 600 to 800 surface parking spaces will be constructed on the site.
Construction will begin in May 2014. The soccer fields could be completed in time for competition in the fall of 2014. The remaining facilities will be ready for the outdoor tennis season in 2015.
