Huskers Tie for Third in Smallbore at GARC Championships

Oxford, Miss. - The Nebraska rifle team shot a season-high 2,313 in smallbore at the GARC Championships on Saturday, tying for third with Kentucky. The Wildcats, however, won the third-place tiebreaker over the Huskers, 115-95. Tiebreaker was determined by center shots.

Senior Katelyn Woltersdorf led the Huskers, shooting a career-high 586. She was in first place heading into the final, but ultimately finished sixth. Janine Dutton turned in the second-best NU score, with 577.

Kelsey Hansen and Joyce Kim each scored 575 on Saturday, while Sunny Russell shot 563. Shooting as individuals, Katie Kostal and Sheena Mahloch scored 569 and 552, respectively.

Army led the team competition on Saturday, shooting 2,318. West Virginia was in second with 2,315 on the first day.

The GARC Championships conclude on Sunday with the air rifle portion of the match.
