A Message From Shawn Eichorst
Dear Husker Fans,
Thank you for supporting our football program through the purchase of season tickets.
I have always admired the passion and loyalty of Big Red football fans, and now I clearly understand why the entrances to Memorial Stadium are inscribed with the words: “Through These Gates Pass the Greatest Fans in College Football.”
After we celebrated 50 years of consecutive sellouts in 2012, the 2013 season will have historical significance of its own as we complete the East Stadium Expansion Project, allowing for 92,000 enthusiastic Husker fans to join us on Saturdays inside Memorial Stadium and which will include a first-of-its-kind research facility.
The 40,000-square-foot East Stadium Research Facility will be home to the Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory (NAPL) and the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior (CB3). Long a dream of visionaries Chancellor Harvey Perlman, Coach Tom Osborne and others, the East Stadium partnership will mark the first on-campus, shared academic/athletic research facility in the history of intercollegiate athletics. Dr. Judith Burnfield (NAPL) and Dr. Dennis Molfese (CB3) will play key roles in bringing to life this ground-breaking collaboration. Together, we will leverage our collective resources and expertise to improve the performance, safety, health and overall well-being of all student-athletes.
Our football student-athletes, our coaches, staff and administrators work tirelessly year-round to meet Nebraska’s high academic and athletic standards. We do this with our core values – Integrity, Trust, Respect, Teamwork and Loyalty – at the heart of everything we do.
As we embrace the competitive challenge of another year in the nation’s oldest and best intercollegiate athletic conference, we ask you to uphold Nebraska’s great tradition of treating opposing coaches, players, officials and fans with the utmost of respect.
Thank you for all your support and for playing an important part in the success of our student-athletes.
