Randy York is the senior writer for Huskers.com and serves as the department's director of creative services. York joined the staff in August of 2007 and is the author of The N-Sider, a column and the official blog of the Huskers. He also directs the department's online annual report for donors and season ticketholders.
As a former sports columnist and assistant sports editor at the Lincoln Journal Star for 15 years, York was named Nebraska Sportswriter of the Year six times. Before returning to Lincoln, he spent 22 years at Sprint as a member of its corporate communications team in Overland Park, Kan. York participated in various roles and management responsibilities at Sprint, including directing the company's annual report and corporate magazine. In 2001, he received the Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators for his role as managing editor of a special publication on 9/11.
A native of Alliance, Neb., York is a University of Nebraska graduate. He and his wife, Linda, also a UNL graduate, have two daughters - Angie Henderson and Julie Jindra. Angie and her husband, Darin, live in Overland Park, Kan. They have four sons (Grant, 12; twins Carter and Payton, 10, and Brody, 5). Julie and her husband, Brian, live in Frisco, Texas. They have 5-year-old twins, Sofie and Jackson.
York serves on the Boards of Directors for two Lincoln-based organizations: The Lincoln Sports Foundation, which oversees the 100-acre Abbott Sports Complex, and the Nebraska State High School Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, located inside the Nebraska Schools Activities Associaton building. The which honors individuals and teams and has inducted more than 240 athletes, coaches and special contributors. York is also in his sixth year as a volunteer for the TeamMates Mentoring Program, co-founded by Tom and Nancy Osborne.
