Nebraska Life Skills is excited to announce that former standout University of Nebraska Track and Field student-athlete Chris Phipps will be working in the Life Skills Department for the upcoming academic year.  Phipps, who hails from Patterson, New Jersey,  enjoyed a stellar career as one of Nebraska's premier jumpers excelling in both the long jump and triple jump.  Phipps claimed a Big Ten Championship in the Indoor Long Jump, is a consensus All-American in both the long jump and triple jump.  Phipps, who will earn his undergraduate degree this coming May 2013 in Psychology, will serve as a Life Skills Student Assistant gaining exposure and experience in all aspects of Nebraska's award winning and comprehensive Life Skills program.  Throughout his undergraduate career, Phipps has been highly involved in many components of the Husker Life Skills program ranging from attendance at all major life skills events to volunteering for numerous community outreach events.  He has also served as a featured speaker at the Tom Osborne All Student-Athlete Assembly.   Phipps has received the prestigious Hero Leadership Award for consistently going above and beyond and impacting others in a positive manner.  Phipps hiring, in part, was made possible by the Big Ten Conference who supplies each member institution with an annual diversity stipend aimed at exposing minorities to careers in intercollegiate athletics.
