Charles Thomas
Position: Head Coach
Alma Mater: Michigan
Graduating Year: 1893
  • Nebraska Head Coach, 1895
  • Nebraska Record: 6-3-0 (.667)

Hired as Nebraska's first assistant coach in 1892, Charles Thomas took over the team after Coach Frank Crawford left for Texas.

Thomas led Nebraska on its first long road trip, a 16-6 loss in Butte, Mont., to the local athletic club.  Although NU lost to Butte, it did defeat the Denver Athletic Club, 12-4, on the way back to Lincoln.

After posting a 6-3 record and helping Nebraska to a share of the Western Inter-State University Football Association title in his only season as head coach at NU, Thomas served as the head coach at Arkansas in 1901 and 1902. He compiled a 9-8 mark in two seasons with the Razorbacks, with a 3-5 mark in 1901 followed by a 6-3 record in 1902.

Thomas was an 1893 graduate of the University of Michigan, but served as an assistant coach for the Huskers under J.S. Williams in 1892 and Frank Crawford in 1893 and 1894.
