Senior (1974)
Ruud was Nebraska's top tackler with 112 tackles on his way to All-Big Eight honors.  Ruud was the first player from the Big Eight and the first of a record 12 Huskers selected in the 1975 NFL Draft.  Ruud had three fumble recoveries and two interceptions en route to Co-Big Eight Athlete of the Year. 

Junior (1973)
In his first year as a starting linebacker, Ruud notched 82 tackles including 30 solo stops.  Ruud also recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass for Nebraska.

Sophomore (1972)
Ruud had 23 tackles including one for loss in his first year on the varsity squad.  In addition, Ruud recovered a fumble in his first year as a linebacker. 

Freshman (1971)
As a fullback on the freshman squad, Ruud ran for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

At Jefferson HS
Ruud was an all-state performer at Jefferson High School for coach Pat Walduer.

Personal
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ruud, Tom was born on July 26, 1953 in Olivia, Minn.  Sons Barrett (2001-04) and Bo (2004-07) played linebacker for Nebraska.
