Women's NCAA Championship History

By NU Athletic Communications

In 2010 senior Lara Crofford qualified for NCAA Championships for the fourth consecutive year after earning an automatic bid from the Midwest Region. The Nebraska women finished 25th at the 2008 NCAA Championships, the team's top finish since 1999 when they finished 16th. The Huskers had back-to-back third-place finishes at the 1988 and 1989 NCAA Championships, marking the best seasons in school history. The 1988 squad included a school-best seventh-place finish from Sammie Resh. In 1992, three-time All-American Fran ten Bensel joined Resh as the only NU women to finish in the top-10 individually at the NCAA Championships when she placed ninth overall. Kayte Tranel qualified for the 2005 meet and finished 28th.

The Huskers have scored in the team standings 14 times at the NCAA Championships, and have had at least one runner competing at the meet in 26 of the 44 championships.

Five Huskers have gained eight All-America awards via the NCAA Championships.
