The Nebraska football team wrapped up practice preparations for Saturday's game against the Arkansas State Red Wolves with a two-hour workout inside Memorial Stadium on Thursday.
Head Coach Bo Pelini said the Huskers finished off the week with good effort.
"I thought today was pretty good attention to detail," Pelini said. "It was crisp. I think our guys are anxious to play."
Although Pelini was encouraged by the play of redshirt freshmen linebackers Will Compton and Sean Fisher, he said he expects big progress from them this weekend.
"Hopefully we got the butterflies out. I expect them to play even better," Pelini said. "I thought they played decent for their first time out, but we have a long way to go there. We've just got to get some things cleaned up and I expect them to do that."
Pelini said Red Wolves' quarterback Corey Leonard is a good dual-threat quarterback and NU's defense will need to be aware of him at all times. Arkansas State rushed for 358 yards in last week's 61-0 dismantling of Mississippi Valley St. Pelini said he hopes his defense is up for the challenge.
"They better, because if they're not, we're going to have some problems," Pelini said. "This is a pretty good running football team."
Pelini said Andy Christensen is the only player questionable because of an injury right now for Saturday's 1 p.m. kickoff.
"We're really healthy right now," Pelini said. "I feel good about where we are health-wise."
