With the 300th consecutive sellout of Memorial Stadium just two days away, Nebraska Head Coach Bo Pelini said after practice Thursday that his football team is ready to give Husker fans something to celebrate on Saturday when the Huskers take on Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Huskers practiced for 90 minutes inside Memorial Stadium Thursday afternoon, wrapping up a week in which Bo Pelini said every day was a good day of practice.

 "The kids have really practiced hard with good tempo and we're ready to play," Pelini said. "It wasn't perfect, but today was our best day yet."

Pelini's praise for his team's practice effort is a positive sign after the Huskers' heartbreaking loss at Virginia Tech last Saturday, a game NU has learned from and put behind them

"Our job now is to play the best football we've played yet, because we haven't played up to our capability yet," Pelini said. "What we have to do is we have to execute with a consistency that's worthy of a championship football team."

Another positive for NU on Thursday is the injury report, or lack thereof. Offensive tackle Mike Smith returned to practice and felt good, Pelini said. Also, quarterback Zac Lee had a good week, and Pelini isn't worried about how Lee will respond this Saturday.

"He's going to play his butt off. I have no question about that."

While Pelini said the fans can celebrate the 300th sellout, he hopes his team remains focused on the task at hand.

"Our job is to play our football and celebrate that thing by us playing Nebraska-type football, and that's with passion, that's with great effort and that's executing to our standard," Pelini said.
