Football Post-Practice Report (Sept 30th 2009)

Lincoln--- After having Tuesday off, the Nebraska football team returned to the practice field on Wednesday inside the Hawks Championship Center for a workout that lasted a little more than two hours.  The Huskers, who practiced in half pads, will not start preparations for their Thursday night match up against Missouri until Saturday.  The focus of Wednesday's practice centered mainly on fundamentals and technique according to Head Coach Bo Pelini.

"Trying to get better, working on fundaments and technique," Pelini said. "We had a good day. Good crisp practice."

According to Pelini, the Huskers practiced with high energy and will not allow the bye week to affect their performance in practice.

"I think they're hungry," Pelini said. "We have a lot ahead of us. We have a lot of challenges coming up. Obviously, starting Big 12 play, it's time to raise the sense of urgency.  I think they felt that."

The Missouri game will mark only the fifth time in Nebraska history the Huskers have played a Thursday night ESPN game, but coach Pelini does not think the schedule will have an effect on his football team.

"It doesn't matter to us," Pelini said. "Our weeks are always screwed up anyway.  Saturday will be just like a Monday to me. It will actually be a benefit because there won't be school on Saturday and Sunday.  Really no issues, it doesn't really make a difference to us."

The Huskers will return to the practice field on Thursday before taking Friday off. Kick off for the Missouri game is set for 8 p.m. and can be seen nationally on ESPN. Check back to Huskers.com for more updates on the Nebraska football team.
