Long Earns Walter Camp All-America Honors

Nebraska junior offensive guard Spencer Long has been named a second-team All-American according to the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

The 6-4, 305-pound Long was the anchor of a Nebraska offensive line that has helped the Husker offense rank eighth nationally and lead the Big Ten in rushing offense. Nebraska also leads the Big Ten in total offense at 462.2 yards per game and ranks second in the Big Ten in scoring offense.

The play of Long and his offensive line teammates helped Nebraska sophomore I-back Ameer Abdullah rush for more than 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns this season. In addition, quarterback Taylor Martinez has 973 rushing yards this season and has posted the second-highest total offense season in Nebraska school history.

Long's selection to the Walter Camp All-America team marks the fourth straight year that Nebraska has had either a first or second-team All-America selection. A graduate of Elkhorn High School, Long earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from both the league's coaches and media panel. Long was also an Academic All-District VII selection and was a first-team Academic All-Big Ten choice.
