FB Post Practice Report (September 24th, 2008)

The Nebraska football team practiced for two hours in half pads today on the Ed and Joyanne Gass practice fields.  After a bye week last week, the Huskers are now halfway through their week in preparation for Virginia Tech this upcoming Saturday.  In order to beat a team like Virginia Tech, the Huskers will have to limit their mental mistakes throughout the game, something that head coach Bo Pelini says his team must work on for the remainder of the week.

“We have a lot to get fixed,” Pelini said. “Their effort is good. They’re working hard. We had too many mental mistakes.”

With the injury to Thomas Lawson, the Huskers have utilized several of their tight ends at the fullback spot.  Pelini said he is comfortable with the personnel at that position.

“We feel good about those guys,” Pelini said. “It gives us the ability to put them on the ball, off the ball. Obviously, we have Makovica too.  We feel like we have good depth at that spot.”

The Huskers will battle Virginia Tech this Saturday with kick-off set for 7 p.m., with the game being carried on ABC regional television. Check back to Huskers.com for more information regarding the Husker football team and their match-up with Virginia Tech.
