Nebraska returns to the practice field Thursday morning at 5:45 for the team’s final practice before Saturday’s Spring Game.

Lincoln – The Nebraska football team remained outdoors Tuesday, enjoying sun and 80-degree temperatures for the 13th of its 15 scheduled spring workouts. The Huskers practiced inside Memorial Stadium for two-and-a-half hours in half pads.

Tuesday marked the return to the practice field for sophomore quarterback Harrison Beck. After practice, Head Coach Bill Callahan addressed Beck’s status for Saturday’s Spring Game.

“We are going to look at (Harrison) again tomorrow,” Callahan said. “The MRI showed no significant damage whatsoever to his shoulder, so we are really pleased about that. We are going to take a look and see if he is throwing accurately and comfortably tomorrow morning and, if he is, we will insert him into the regular rotation.”

Callahan also provided a preview of what to expect when the Huskers take the field on Saturday.

“Our Spring Game format is going to remain the same,” Callahan said. “Like we did a year ago, we will have ones versus the rest. The first-team offense and defense will compete against the twos and the threes, and we’ll also bring some guys from the second and third teams over in the second half to allow them to get some work with the ones.

“We’re going to see a lot of mixing and matching. It is going to be a great atmosphere, and a great environment for our players to compete in. We are extremely excited for our Spring Game. The players are looking forward to it, but first we have to practice tomorrow morning at 5:45”

As has become a tradition over the past few years, the Huskers will host a number of potential recruits over the Spring Game weekend.

“With recruits and parents, and people that have signed up to come in, we will have almost 300 people,” Callahan said. “I want to say that there is somewhere between 65 and 70 recruits signed up and we always have latecomers, so there is a possibility that we could have anywhere between 80 to 85 recruits in here on Saturday. It is a significant number of recruits, and what a great environment to have our recruits in—to see Memorial Stadium all in red on a Saturday afternoon in spring.”

Nebraska returns to the practice field Thursday morning for the team’s final practice before Saturday’s Spring Game, which is set to kickoff at 12:30 p.m. Tickets still remain for the game, and can be purchased by calling 1-800-8BIGRED or online at Huskers.com.

Following Thursday’s practice, the Huskers will begin a full weekend of activities that kicks off with Friday’s Lettermen’s Golf Classic at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club and includes a picnic for the players and their families following the Spring Game.
