Nebraska's game at USC will be telecast nationally on ABC with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT.

ABC Sports and the Pac-10 Conference have announced that Nebraska’s Sept. 16 game at USC will be televised nationally on ABC, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CDT and 5 p.m. locally in Los Angeles.

The game will mark the first meeting between the two storied programs since 1970, when the Huskers and Trojans battled to a 21-21 tie at the Los Angeles Coliseum. This will be just the third meeting overall between the schools, as USC won at Nebraska in the 1969 season.

The game will mark the second announced ABC telecast for Nebraska in 2006. The Huskers’ Nov. 24 game with Colorado in Lincoln will be televised nationally by the network, beginning with a 2:30 p.m. CST kickoff. Additional televised games will be announced at a later date by ABC and the Big 12 Conference’s other television partners.

The USC-Nebraska contest will mark the fourth time in the last six seasons Nebraska has had an ABC prime-time telecast of a non-conference game. In 2001, Nebraska’s home contest with Notre Dame was a night telecast on ABC, while both the 2002 and 2003 games against Penn State were also ABC prime-time telecasts.

Nebraska Head Coach Bill Callahan is pleased with the opportunity for excellent exposure against a high-profile opponent.

“This should be a great matchup for ABC and is one we are certainly excited about,” Callahan said. “The national telecast provides us with a platform to showcase our football program against one of the nation’s best and most high-profile programs.”
