Junior tight end and Texas native J.B. Phillips enters Saturday's matchup with the Longhorns with two touchdowns this season.

Lincoln – The Nebraska football team braved the cold weather outside with a two-hour practice in half pads inside Memorial Stadium as the team prepared to face Big 12 opponent Texas at 11 a.m. Saturday. The contest marks the Husker’s fourth straight Big 12 match-up and the first time the team has faced the Longhorns since the 2003 season.

Head Coach Bill Callahan commented on the prognosis of junior linebacker Corey McKeon, who left the Kansas State game in the third quarter with a high ankle sprain.

“He practiced today,” Callahan said. “I’m going to check with (Defensive Coordinator Kevin) Cosgrove and see how everything went, and we’ll make a determination either tonight or tomorrow. But it looks good.”

Callahan additionally commented on the probable starter at center, as senior Kurt Mann returned to action last week against the Wildcats, appearing in two-and-a-half quarters after missing five straight games due to illness. Junior Brett Byford stepped in during Mann’s absence and played most of the first half against Kansas State.

“We haven’t determined (who will start) yet,” Callahan said. “We’ll sit down as a staff and make that assessment. (Senior Center Kurt Mann) played good (last weekend). He played very solid. He had a lot of solid plays. But like anybody, like all of us, he can always get better, and there’s a lot of room for improvement for (the team).”

In other news, former Husker I-back great Mike Rozier will be honored at halftime of Saturday’s game on the field in Memorial Stadium for his upcoming induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. For more information, fans can visit the following article on Huskers.com at:

The Huskers will hold a team walk-through in Memorial Stadium Friday afternoon before playing host to Texas at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:10 a.m. CST. Saturday’s game will be carried on ABC and available to 80 percent of the country.
