Lincoln -- Several former Huskers played prominent roles in victories for their teams as Week 9 of the National Football League season.

At Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman scored a touchdown with 11:50 left in the fourth quarter to egde the Kansas City Chiefs 34-31. Will Shields made his eighth straight start of the season helping Trent Green and the Chief offense pass for 369 yards. On defense, right cornerback Eric Warfield led the Kansas City defense with seven tackles. Kansas City slipped to 3-5 on the season with the loss, while Tampa improved its record to 3-5.

In Buffalo, the battle between two former Blackshirt defensive ends went to Chris Kelsay and the Buffalo Bills as they handed Trevor Johnson and the New York Jets their second loss of the season, winning 22-17.  For the game Kelsay recorded five tackles and a 13-yard sack of Jets quarterback Chad Pennington. Johnson saw action for the Jets defense, but did not record a tackle. With the win Buffalo improved to 3-5 for the season, while the Jets remain in second place in the AFC East with a record of 6-2.

Currently, Nebraska leads all Big 12 schools with 38 former players on NFL rosters a total that ranks among the leaders for all schools.
