Nebraska Sells Nearly 41,000 Spring Game Football Tickets on the First Day

The familiar expression that people see a glass as either half empty or half full took on a new meaning Wednesday for Nebraska football fans who bought 41,000 tickets for the Red-White Spring Game on the first day they became available.

The first-day onslaught means that Memorial Stadium is now either half empty or half full for the April 17 Spring Game - a view that depends on whether you already have tickets or still intend to buy them.

Holly Adam, Nebraska's Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing, said more than 8,400 tickets were sold in the first 15 minutes they were on sale.

The heavy demand surprised no one. In fact, more than 50 percent of nearly 2,500 voters in a Huskers.com Fan Poll said they planned to buy their Spring Day tickets the first day they were offered. Another 19 percent said they would either buy them sometime later this week or "in plenty of time to get seats."

About 31 percent of the voters said they would either listen to the game on the radio or were "not into spring football."

Fans can secure tickets for the Red-White game at Huskers.com, by calling 1-800-8 BIG RED or in person at the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office across the street from Memorial Stadium. Spring Game tickets are $10 each.

Tickets also can be purchased here online

CFO Kenny Accepts Another Administrative Position

Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne announced Wednesday that Nancy Kenny, the department's Associate Athletic Director/Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed to the position of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Business and Operations in UNL's Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

In her new position, Kenny will work closely with university administration, deans and chairs in providing effective fiscal and data management practices to support academic decision-making.  Kenny will transition to her new role over the next several weeks and has agreed to continue to consult for the Athletic Department on an as-needed basis.

"Nancy has done a great job of managing our finances and contracts," Osborne said. "She has done an outstanding job with our finances during an economic downturn. At a time when so many athletic departments have experienced shortfalls, Nancy's expertise has been tremendously helpful and allowed us to make sound financial decisions. She will be greatly missed within the Athletic Department, but we plan to continue to consult with Nancy as time goes forward."

Kenny has been in her position in the Athletic Department for the past nine years and came to Athletics after spending the previous four years in other positions on campus, including Assistant Dean for Business and Finance in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Director of Financial Management Services for the NU campus.
