Huskers Getting Defensive Before Battling Vandals

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln - Coach Bo Pelini and the Huskers met with the media at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday to discuss this Saturday's game with the Idaho. Kickoff for Nebraska's game with the Vandals is set for 11:30 a.m. with a live FSN pay-per-view telecast.

Nebraska opened the season with a 49-10 victory over Western Kentucky at Memorial Stadium on Saturday (Sept. 4), while Idaho is coming off a 45-0 season-opening victory over North Dakota on Thursday, Sept. 2. The No. 8 Huskers are coming off a 10-win campaign, while the Vandals are coming an 8-5 season in 2009 that included the second bowl win school history with a Humanitarian Bowl victory.

Pelini, who orchestrated the nation's top scoring defense in 2009, said he expected the Blackshirts to show improvement against Idaho.

"Defense always has to be better. Across the board you have to communicate, especially the way we play defense. Communication has to be good across the board. Everybody has to talk, that just comes from growing together and getting more comfortable with each other. If you look at my history, that's our style of defense. You get better as you go on, as you get more time together. I've been here before, I'm not real concerned. I'll be concerned if I'm saying this four or five weeks from now. I don't think that will be the case."
