2011 Outlook: Left-hander Logan Ehlers is a two-time state Gatorade Player of the Year after an exceptional career at Nebraska City High School • Selected in the eighth round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Toronto Bluejays • Compiled a dominant 18-2 record over his last two seasons while striking out 347 hitters • Made two starts in the Red-White Series, lasting only 0.2 innings in the first outing before coming back to strike out 10 in six innings while giving up four hits and one run in his second start • Could find his way into the starting rotation as a true freshman as he develops.

Before Nebraska: Ehlers was the state’s top pitching prospect, throwing for coach Tom Bales at Nebraska City High School • Named Gatorade Player of the Year in Nebraska in 2009 and 2010 after putting together two of the best pitching seasons in state history • Went 8-2 with a 0.27 ERA in 2010 • Broke his single-season state strikeout record with 186 as a senior • Completed a perfect 10-0 junior season with three saves and a 0.20 ERA, as he fanned 161 in 68.2 innings and allowed just nine hits • Tossed four no-hitters and a perfect game in 2009, including one no-hitter where he struck out 21 of the 22 hitters he faced • Was a three-time all-state selection • Selected as one of 34 players to try out for the USA Baseball Under-18 Team in Cary, N.C., in 2009 • As a sophomore, led the state with 112 strikeouts while compiling a 4-3 record and a 1.00 ERA • Gave up only 23 earned runs throughout his prep career • Also started in football and basketball at NCHS.
