2008: Left-hander Zach Herr has made 74 career appearances to rank fourth all-time at NU • Used in late-game situations out of the Husker bullpen, going 3-0 with four saves and a 4.24 ERA in a team-high 28 appearances in 2008 • Ranked among the Big 12 leaders in both appearances (fifth) and saves (five, sixth) • Fanned 49 and walked 13 over 34 innings of work and has allowed just 11 of 27 inherited runners to score • Allowed one run over two innings of work against Oral Roberts in the NCAA Regional on June 1 • Pitched twice in the Big 12 Tournament, matching his career high with six strikeouts over 2.1 innings of one-hit relief to notch the save in 5-2 win over Kansas State on May 23 • Compiled a 2-0 mark with two saves in a team-best 15 Big 12 appearances, fanning 22 over 18.1 innings of work, as he finished third in the conference in appearances • Made just one appearance at No. 12 Missouri, allowing one run on a hit in 0.1 innings of work on May 15 • Turned in one of the best performances of his career in the series opener against ninth-ranked Texas A&M on May 9, tossing a career-high four innings and matching his career best with six strikeouts in a 16-inning loss to the Aggies • Dominated Louisiana-Lafayette on May 3, striking out three of the four hitters he faced over 1.1 perfect innings for his third win of the season • Threw twice in the series win at Baylor, collecting his team-best fourth save with a scoreless 10th to preserve a 6-4 Nebraska win on April 26 • Fired 0.2 shutout innings against Creighton on April 22 • Pitched twice in the series win over Kansas, earning his third save of the year with 1.2 innings of no-hit relief to preserve NU’s 8-6 win on April 19 • Collected his second save of the year against fifth-ranked Wichita State on April 15, allowing one hit and fanning four over 2.1 shutout innings to preserve a 3-0 win • Pitched in all three games of the Oklahoma series, tossing 2.1 innings of no-hit ball, as he earned the win on March 21 with 1.2 innings of shutout relief • Threw twice in the series sweep at Kansas State, allowing one run on one hit and fanning five over 3.1 innings • Helped the Huskers complete the series sweep of K-State on March 16, allowing one hit and striking out three over 2.0 innings of work • Tossed 1.1 innings of no-hit ball, fanning two to earn the win at K-State on March 14 • Pitched a perfect eighth inning against South Dakota State on March 11 • Dominated Northern Colorado in picking up his first save on March 9, fanning a career-high six hitters in 2.2 innings of shutout relief, including five in a row at one point • Played a major role in NU’s 3-2 win over UC Riverside on Feb. 29, coming out of the bullpen in the top of the eighth to strike out two hitters in a tie game with the bases loaded • Was touched up for a pair of unearned runs in the series finale at Stanford on Feb. 24, a game NU lost 4-2

2007: Herr was a workhorse out of the bullpen for the Huskers, making 22 appearances, primarily in late-game situations • Compiled a 2-3 mark with two saves and a 5.40 ERA, holding foes to a .232 average • Retired the first hitter he faced in 14 of his 21 relief appearances and earned saves against No. 14 Texas A&M and Illinois State • Allowed just five of 21 inherited runners to score, including none in his final 14 relief outings • Threw twice during the NCAA Tempe Regional, retiring the only hitter he faced against No. 14 UC Riverside on June 1, before allowing two runs against fifth-ranked Arizona State in the title game two days later - the first earned runs he had allowed in relief since April 1 • Used in short relief, although he went at least an inning in six appearances, highlighted by a 3.1 inning effort at No. 22 Alabama where he struck out five to earn his first win • Was 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA in 10 appearances in conference play, although he had just a 2.25 ERA in his nine Big 12 relief appearances • Pitched a scoreless 0.1 innings against Baylor on May 11 • Allowed two hits and an unearned run over a third of an inning against Kansas State on April 29 • Fanned the only batter he faced against No. 11 Wichita State on April 11 • Pitched a scoreless 0.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts against Iowa on April 10 • Made his first career start against No. 13 Oklahoma State on April 8, allowing three runs and walking a career-high five Cowboys in one-plus innings of work • Earned the save in the series opener at No. 14 Texas A&M on March 30, entering the game with the tying run at the plate and retired all four hitters he faced with two strikeouts • Earned the win in the opener against Western Illinois on March 20, as he retired the only batter he faced in a game NU eventually won in the bottom of the ninth • Turned in the best performance of his career in a 4-3 win at No. 22 Alabama on March 10, setting career bests in strikeouts (five) and innings pitched (3.1) en route to his first career win • Saved NU’s win over Illinois State on Feb. 18, fanning two over 1.1 scoreless innings • Enjoyed a dominant summer serving as the closer for the Beatrice Bruins and Coach Bob Steinkamp, as the Bruins went 33-7 and reached the NBC World Series • Made a team-high 19 appearances and went 2-0 with three saves and a 0.86 ERA • Struck out 27 in 21 innings, while holding opponents to a .153 average.

2006: Herr quickly developed into the Huskers’ top set-up man from the left side as a true freshman • Tied for second on the team with 24 appearances - one off the school mark for freshmen - and went 0-0 with a 2.05 ERA • Topped the Huskers with seven holds and allowed only eight of 27 inherited runners to score • Worked primarily seventh and eighth innings ahead of All-Big 12 closer Brett Jensen • Held opponents to a .224 average and surrendered just two extra-base hits all season • Pitched at least one inning in 13 of his 24 outings, including a season-long 2.2 innings against Illinois State on March 14 • Pitched 0.2 innings of one hit ball against Manhattan in NU’s NCAA opener on June 1 • Threw twice in the Big 12 Tournament, allowing one hit and fanning three over 1.1 innings of work • Retired both batters he faced to get the hold against Creighton at Rosenblatt Stadium on May 16 • Led the Husker pitchers with 14 appearances during Big 12 play, posting a 2.45 ERA over 11 innings • Made two appearances at Baylor, allowing one run on three hits over 1.1 innings • Came out of the bullpen twice against Oklahoma State, allowing two hits over 1.1 innings • Pitched 0.2 innings of no-hit relief in NU’s 4-3 win over Texas Tech on April 29 • Combined with Jon Klausing and Erik Bird on a two-hit shutout of Wichita State on April 25 • Made two outings at No. 5 Texas, tossing 2.2 innings of no-hit ball, while fanning two in a scoreless inning of work on April 22 • Tossed 1.1 innings of one-hit relief in two outings at Missouri • Went a career-high 2.2 innings against Illinois State on March 14, allowing three runs - one earned - on two hits in a 10-7 Husker win • Pitched well in his Husker debut, tossing 1.2 innings of no-hit relief while fanning three against Notre Dame on March 3 • Enjoyed a strong performance for Rochester (Minn.) in the Northwoods League, going 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 13 appearances • Struck out 12 and walked four over 20.0 innings and held opponents to a .186 average.

Omaha Skutt Catholic High School: Herr was one of the top high school pitchers in the state in 2005 for Coach Keith Englekamp at Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha • Garnered first-team all-state accolades from both the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World-Herald in 2005 • Compiled a 7-2 record with a 1.22 ERA, while leading the state with 89 strikeouts • Ranked among the top 10 in the state in ERA (sixth) and wins (seventh) • Threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts against Omaha Gross in the River Cities Conference championship game in 2005 • Lettered on the diamond for three seasons for the SkyHawks • Played American Legion baseball for Englekamp and Shawn Exner, helping his team to a state title as a senior • Went 8-2 on the mound with a 2.21 ERA, as he struck out 109 in 80 innings of work.
