Senior outside hitter Anna Schrad is also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.

Lincoln -- Nebraska’s Anna Schrad was one of 21 student-athletes named to the 2003 CoSIDA Academic All-America teams announced Thursday morning. Schrad was one of six players named to the second team and one of just three Big 12 Conference players who earned a spot on the teams.

Schrad is the 16th player in Husker volleyball history to be named an Academic All-American, and the 16 players have combined for 26 All-America awards. Nebraska has placed a player on the Academic All-America teams in each of the past six seasons. The selection is the first for Schrad, who is a two-time member of the Academic All-District VII team and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 pick. Schrad owns a 3.91 grade-point average in exercise science.

On the court, Schrad helped the Huskers to a 26-4 record and a second-place finish in the Big 12 with a 17-3 mark. Nebraska will begin NCAA Tournament play Friday, Dec. 5, when it takes on Valparaiso at 4 p.m. at Michigan State. The Huskers have appeared in 22 of the 23 NCAA Division I Volleyball Tournaments.
