Molly Hill was one of two pitchers named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America first team.

Senior Molly Hill became the Nebraska softball program’s sixth multi-time academic All-American on Wednesday, when she was one of 11 players nationally named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America first team.

Hill was a third-team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2008 and her repeat selection increases the softball program’s nation-leading total to 26 all-time CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Hill is the first repeat selection for the Huskers since Denise McMillan earned three straight CoSIDA Academic All-America awards from 1992 to 1994.

Hill was outstanding in the classroom and on the field not only in 2009, but in her four-year Husker career. A three-time academic All-Big 12 and all-district selection, Hill earned her degree in speech language pathology on May 9. Hill carried an impressive 3.97 cumulative grade-point average through her career and she will continue her education this fall as a graduate student at Nebraska.

Hill is the 10th player to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American in the 17 seasons Husker Head Coach Rhonda Revelle has led the program. Hill is the seventh first-team honoree in school history, while her selection increased Nebraska’s overall nation-leading total to 269 all-time CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

On the field, Hill finished 25-15 this season with a 1.66 ERA. She ranked fourth in the Big 12 in ERA, but her mark was the lowest of any pitcher who threw at least 175.0 innings this season. A first-team All-Big 12 selection and a two-time conference pitcher of the week in 2009, Hill finished third in the league in wins and innings pitched, while ranking fourth in strikeouts and fifth in shutouts.

A native of Wayne, Neb., Hill posted the fifth-most victories in school history this season, while also throwing the fifth-most innings. Hill owns the best single-season winning percentage in Husker history, while ranking third on the career charts in innings pitched, fourth in victories, fifth in complete games, sixth in strikeouts, eighth in shutouts and ninth in winning percentage.
