“The Spangler, 2012” Set for Sept. 28 at ArborLinks

The eighth annual "The Spangler, 2012" will be held Sept. 28 at ArborLinks Golf Course in Nebraska City. "The Spangler" is a special event benefiting the Dick Spangler Scholarship Fund. The Dick Spangler Scholarship, honoring Nebraska coach Bill Spangler's late father, Dick, is awarded annually to a Nebraska golfer who made significant contributions to the men's golf program through his attitude, effort and team spirit.

The entry fee per player for "The Spangler" is $200.00, and that covers golf, cart and range, all food and drink and cigars. "The Spangler" is a 4-person shamble that starts with a shotgun at noon. For more information, please contact Rich Spangler at rich@centrocigars.com.

Dick Spangler earned three letters for the Nebraska golf team from 1950 to 1952, was a Nebraska Amateur champion and served on the board of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association. Always a gentleman, his quick wit, enjoyable sense of humor and his dedication to the game of golf bring honor and credit to our University and the great game of life. Spangler was inducted into the Nebraska Golf Hall of Fame in 1997.
