Sritragul Leads Huskers on Second Day in Mexico
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Nebraska women's golf team got four solid scores from its its lineup to shoot a 301 in the second round of the Hawkeye El Tigre on Monday.
Although Nebraska's second-round total was 17 strokes better than its opening round, the Huskers still sit in 14th place in the 14-team field with a two-round total of 619 heading into Tuesday's final round.
Annie Sritragul carded Nebraska's best individual round of the day with a two-over-par 74 on the 6,085-yard layout at the El Tigre Golf Club. The freshman from Bangkok, Thailand, climbed into a tie for 57th in the 79-player field at 158 through 36 holes.
Fellow freshman Kate Smith added a 75 to move into a tie for 38th at 153. Nebraska's lone senior Sarah Pravecek added a 75 of her own to move into a tie for 60th at 159.
Junior Audrey Judd, who entered the second round in a tie for second at 72, settled for a 77 on Monday to slip into a tie for 18th at 149.
Freshman Claire Robertson rounded out the Husker lineup with an 83, while fellow freshman Jessica Haraden carded a 77 to move up one position in the standings to a tie for 50th at 156. Haraden is playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup.
Wisconsin fired the tournament's best round on Monday with a 287 to climb into the top spot in the team standings. The Badgers own a five-stroke lead over UTSA (591), while Washington sits in third at 593.
Kennesaw State's Dulcie Sverdloff vaulted to the top of the individual leaderboard with a three-under-par 69. She enters the final round with a two-under-par 142 through 36 holes. Wisconsin's Brooke Ferrell, Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg and Washington's Karen Miyamoto are all tied for second at 144.
The Hawkeye El Tigre concludes on Tuesday with the third round beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
